The recent fundraiser, Shake it for Shea, organized by the Hearts in Harmony Foundation, dedicated to supporting research for Long QT Syndrome, successfully raised over $440,000. The event directed funds to Dr. Michael Ackerman's research at the Mayo Clinic. The strong support from the community played a crucial role in achieving this goal, bringing closer the possibility of finding a cure and improving treatment options for those affected by this condition. The non-profit was founded by Kira and Mark Greenfield, parents of daughter Shea, who was diagnosed at birth with a severe form of Long QT Syndrome.
